NRA FIRST Steps Pistol
The FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation — Firearm Instruction, Responsibility, and Safety Training — is the NRA’s response to the American public’s need for a firearm orientation program for new purchasers.
NRA FIRST (FIREARM INSTRUCTION, REPSPONSIBILITY and SAFETY TRAINING) Steps Pistol is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific pistol action type. This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific pistol action type.
This NRA Curriculum course for beginners covers Safe Handling, Parts and Operation of Revolvers and Semi-Automatic Firearms, Ammunition, Shooting Fundamentals, Criteria for Selecting a Handgun, Storing and Transporting a Handgun. Firearms, Ammunition, Eye and Ear Protection are required for this class. If you have your own firearm, you may bring it.
Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the particular pistol model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development.
Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and FIRST Steps Course completion certificate. Consists of Classroom and Live Fire Exercises. 3+ Hour Course. Range portion of course can be extended for students who wish to participate in additional live fire exercises at no addition cost time permitting.

Classroom Requirements:
Handgun - revolver or semi-auto pistol, 50 rounds of ammunition and two or more magazines or speed loaders.
No live ammunition to be brought inside classroom!
No loaded firearms. All guns must be unloaded and secured in a holster or gun bag suitable for transporting a firearm.
Cleaning Kit - If you have one bring it. Kit should be specific to your firearm.
